Project Synopsis

The development of wireless textilebased health monitoring sensors and systems are garnering substantial interest in research and technology due to their unique capabilities in continuous and noninvasive tracking of the physiological states of the human body. Despite successful outcomes of textile based wearable sensors, they should be attached to the body, limiting their utilizations for people like seniors who are unfamiliar with the technology and are unable to operate wearable devices. Additionally, wearable textile sensors might pose serious health risks to users with sensitive skins.

Project Objective

To develop a convenient portable sleep screening device, called SafeSleep, using textile technology. SafeSleep will help create an accessible, scalable technology to diagnose sleep apnea, which can minimize hospitalization, enable the delivery of preventative therapies and provide independent support at home.
