Extreme temperatures increase the risk when exercising in the overall population. The early recognition of symptoms and physiological changes (i.e. heart rate alterations) can help to prevent temperaturerelated illness. We aim to identify the best combination of health parameters to determine the intensity/duration threshold that, if exceeded, would place people at risk due to extreme external temperature (heat/cold); and to validate a textilebased multisensor wearable device (MWD) that will monitor the optimal combination of health parameters and alert individuals when they reach the threshold that would place them at increased risk.
To identify what measures and/or combination of measures are most responsive in determining the intensity/duration threshold above which higher intensity or longer duration exercise would place people at risk due to extreme external temperature exposure (heat/cold). 2) To validate a textilebased multisensor wearable technology (MWT) vest that will continuously monitor a combination of physiological parameters that will alert individuals when they reach a threshold that would place them at increased risk.
