COVID Status

  • UHN is currently in the "Red" Covid restriction phase for staffing, business, and research meetings.
  • Staffing – Only staff deemed essential should be on-site. Research activities that require resources that are only available on-site are considered essential.
  • Meetings - For educational meetings, physical distancing and room capacity limits do not need to be followed but masking is required, and no food is allowed. Virtual meetings are encouraged.
  • Meetings with outside guests such as business and industry representatives are highly discouraged. Any on-site business/industry meetings require prior approval from KITE Restart.
  • UHN still requires that staff and visitors (including research participants) coming to UHN sites are fully vaccinated (at least two doses).
  • Visitor policy – Technicians and vendors needed to support research activities are allowed on site if they meet the latest UHN screening criteria. KITE Restart does not need to be notified of the visits.
  • Tours - Tours are currently only allowed for educational purposes and must meet the KITE Restart Tour policy guidelines. In general, tours are highly discouraged during the Red Covid restriction phase. The Kite Restart Tour Policy document can be found on the Return to Work (RTW) web application dashboard.
  • Social Gatherings - In-person social gatherings are not permitted indoors or outdoors on UHN property.
  • Research participant screening – please refer to the latest Conducting Research with Participants On Site protocol on the RTW dashboard for changes due to the removal of door screeners.
  • Clinical research is allowed up to 100% of pre-pandemic activity.
  • Any questions or concerns – please contact Kite.Restart@uhn.ca

Which boot has the best grip on ice?

A new generation of winter footwear can significantly reduce the risk of slipping and falling on icy surfaces. This infographic highlights the importance of using KITE's lab-based testing to determine footwear effectiveness on ice because looks can be deceiving. This resource includes links to our footwear ratings as well as a short survey that offers the chance to win a $20 gift card.
