Parks Accessibility Conference 2023

Join us on July 25 – 27th for the second Parks Accessibility Conference!

Funded by Accessibility Standards Canada, the conference brings together individuals living with disabilities, caregivers, park management, and researchers to discuss solutions for improving the accessibility of national and provincial parks.

Stan Leyenhorst, president of Universal Access Design Inc, and Sonya Wilson, a seasoned teacher, advocate, and a member of the deaf community will be the keynote speakers at this year’s conference.

In addition to these speakers, there will be presentations from Parks Canada, Rocky Mountain Adaptive, Kéroul, Trans Canada Trail, and other advocates from the disability community. The conference will feature panel discussions with Access Now founder and CEO Mayann Ziv, as well as representatives from The Canadian Parks, Protected, and Conserved Areas Leadership Collective. There will also be social hour events and a campfire discussion.

The conference will be held online using Zoom Webinar. English captioning and American Sign Language interpretation will be available. Don’t miss this opportunity to create a more accessible and socially inclusive experience for people with disabilities and their caregivers in national and provincial parks.
