What We Do

Central Recruitment is a strategy to improve research for everyone.

The Centralized Recruitment department promotes patient engagement in research and acts as the liaison between researchers and patients, to ensure both groups have equal access to each other.

Currently in operation across all Toronto Rehab In-patient units, centralized recruitment (CR) is the established process to recruit in-patients for research participation. The team of trained Patient Research Liaisons (PRL's) helps patients explore their participation options, and assists researchers to achieve their target sample size. This is all done within an ethical framework of equality, best practices and adherence to privacy legislation.

CR Calculator

If you are a researcher submitting a study in CAPCR and you wish to recruit in-patients at any of the Toronto Rehab sites, please download the CR Calculator to assist you in determining your recruiting cost estimate. CR services are paid for through your study grant/budget.

The CR Calculator allows you to plan your recruiting costs and build them into your study budget before applying for a grant. An approved CR Calculator must be submitted with your CAPCR submission. Contact Louise Brisbois at louise.brisbois@uhn.ca for assistance completing your estimate.
