Dr. Stefania Impellizzeri is Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biology at Ryerson University (Toronto). She received a Laurea in Chemistry from the University of Bologna (Italy) and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Miami (FL, USA). She then pursued her postdoctoral training at the University of Ottawa as a Banting Fellow (NSERC). She is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC, UK), the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), the American Chemical Society (ACS), and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). She is one of the Board Directors of Nano Ontario, Ontario's top professional organization for nanotechnology development.
Her expertise extends from organic synthesis to photo– and physical chemistry, materials chemistry, catalysis and supramolecular chemistry. Her research focuses on the design and synthesis of organic and bioinorganic probes for bioimaging, biosensing and molecular computing, sustainable 'smart' materials and devices, nanoengineered textiles and coatings, and biomedical scaffolds.
