The UHN Research strategic initiative to 'Engage Every Patient' aims to strengthen our learning health system by embedding patient engagement in research (PER) within our values, structures, practices and metrics of success within UHN Research.
One of the mechanisms for building capacity for PER through the Pride in Patient Engagement in Research program is offering grants and awards to individuals with project proposals designed to:
We are offering $40,000 in awards to be distributed to up to 4 separate dyads (Scientist and patient partner) whose proposed activities are consistent with the PiPER mandate at UHN.
Each application must include a Principal Applicant who is either an independent researcher at UHN, or other UHN personnel who is a PER knowledge user or trainee with expertise and/or interest in PER. Two (2) of the four (4) grants are reserved for individuals who attended the PER Strategic Planning session at UHN on May 4th, 2022.
Projects must be able to be completed within a 1 year timeframe.
All proposals should be submitted to the Chair, UHN PER Steering Committee for consideration. Proposals must include the following:
