Dr. Roshan Fekr is an assistant professor at the Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto and an affiliate scientist at the KITE research institute, University Health Network. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University in Montreal. She then pursued her postdoctoral training with Dr. Geoff Fernie, Chair of Prevention and Healthcare Technologies at KITE. Dr. Roshan Fekr is leading the science behind the footwear slip resistance testing program at WinterLab which attracts lots of attention from footwear companies and has motivated them to design higher-quality footwear over time. Her primary research interest is to combine ubiquitous sensing technologies with machine learning, optimization and signal processing techniques to solve real-world, practical problems. This includes but not limited to:
She is also involved in designing, validating, testing, and commercializing of new ideas in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
