Stephanie Iwasa

Dr. Iwasa is a staff scientist and project manager for industry collaborations with the KITE Research Institute. She received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto. She supports projects related to electrical stimulation. This spans pre-clinical studies using electrical stimulation to activate neural stem cells for neural repair as well as various functional electrical stimulation (FES) applications for therapeutic interventions. Dr. Iwasa is also the lead for KITE as a Beachhead, an AgeTech technology integration evaluator, in the MEDTEQ+ and AGE-WELL envisAGE initiative. Here technology from small- and medium-sized Canadian companies are being integrated into the community to serve older adults and their caregivers.
