Mission Statement

An estimated 2.7 million people in the US and Canada live with moderate to severe mobility impairment of their arms and hands following a stroke or spinal cord injury and every year, an additional 916,500 individuals will experience a stroke or spinal cord injury with 40% of them experiencing persistent moderate to severe impairment of arms and hand function. Paralysis of arms and hands is devasting as it is associated with difficulty or inability to perform daily functions and loss of independence. At MyndTec our mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live independently.

MyndTec, a pioneer in the treatment of arm and hand paralysis, researches, develops and distributes innovative therapies designed to regain voluntary’ function, maximize independence and enhance the quality of life for individuals with paralysis due to stroke or spinal cord injury.

Background

MyndTec Inc. is a privately held medical technology company with global head-office located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. MyndMove™ is MyndTec’s first product to market. MyndMove™ is a non-invasive functional electrical stimulation therapy that delivers lasting voluntary upper extremity function to maximize independence & enhance quality of life of patients with paralysis following stroke, spinal cord or other neurological injury. MyndMove™ is approved for use in the United States and Canada.

MyndMove™ was developed based on Research by Dr. Milos R. Popovic and his team at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network and the University of Toronto. MyndMove™ is the culmination of over a decade of laboratory and clinical research led by Dr. Milos Popovic. Number of randomized control trials have demonstrated significant and lasting recovery of voluntary upper extremity movement with MyndMove™ in patients with paralysis following stroke, spinal cord injury versus conventional occupational therapy.
