Biography

Mikaela is a final-year PhD Candidate in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute under the supervision of Dr. Anne Agur and co-supervision of Dr. Dinesh Kumbhare. She obtained her BSc in Human Kinetics and MSc in Neuroscience from the University of Guelph in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Mikaela is a CIHR Vanier Scholar and her research is also currently supported by a Carlton and Marguerite Smith Medical Research Fellowship. Her doctoral thesis focuses on mapping the baseline 3D architecture and structural properties of the human trapezius muscle, as well as exploring how the underlying anatomy can help inform our understanding of chronic pain disorders, such as myofascial pain syndrome.
