Adaptive Fashion Symposium: Rethinking Fashion through Disability & Human-Centered Design

The Adaptive Fashion Symposium is a groundbreaking two-day event bringing together leaders from fashion, research, healthcare, education, industry, and the disability community to explore the future of inclusive design and adaptive fashion in Canada.

Hosted in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and Adaptive Fashion Alliance Canada (AFAC), the symposium will showcase how innovation, collaboration, and lived experience are helping to reshape the fashion landscape to better meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with thought-provoking presentations, panel discussions, interactive exhibits, and a unique Fashion Runway Design Review featuring adaptive apparel from leading brands and designers. More than a traditional runway show, this experience will highlight how clothing can support accessibility, comfort, independence, and self-expression.

The event will also feature a Vendor and Community Showcase, bringing together adaptive fashion brands, disability innovators, researchers, community organizations, and entrepreneurs who are advancing inclusive products, services, and ideas.

More than a conversation about clothing, the Adaptive Fashion Symposium explores how design can create greater access, dignity, belonging, and opportunity. Whether your interests lie in research, innovation, accessibility, healthcare, design, or social impact, this event offers a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and help shape a more inclusive future.
