Urvashy Gopaul
Dr. Urvashy Gopaul is a physiotherapist and holds a MSc in Physiotherapy-Neurorehabilitation (University of Nottingham, UK) and PhD in Physiotherapy (University of Newcastle, Australia). She was previously a tenured faculty at the University of Mauritius for 7 years leading the physiotherapy education program before she relocated to Canada. Dr. Gopaul completed her post-doctoral research at the KITE Research Institute, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute- University Health Network, Canada. Dr. Gopaul has recently joined the University of Montreal as an Assistant professor. Her research program focuses on the development of complex neurorehabilitation approaches integrating somatosensory, motor and cognitive training using clinical restorative therapy and advanced rehabilitation technology such as robotic training, haptic training using pressure sensors and neuromodulation modalities such as spinal cord stimulation after stroke and other neurological conditions.
