Abstract

The objectives of this talk are to (1) Outline key concepts in end-of-grant and integrated knowledge translation. (2) Provide an overview of the rigorous and consensus-based process used to co-develop the IKT Guiding Principles. (3) Discuss how researchers and research users can cultivate a practice of meaningfully engaging in spinal cord injury research.

Biography

Dr. Gainforth is an Associate Professor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences, University of British Columbia Okanagan and lead of the Applied Behaviour Change Lab. She is an International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries Principal Investigator and a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Scholar in the area of behaviour change and knowledge translation. Her research aims to advance the science and practice to integrated knowledge translation (IKT) by investigating and supporting meaningful research partnerships between researchers and research users. She leads the partnership that co-developed the first integrated knowledge translation (IKT) guiding principles for conducting spinal cord injury (SCI) research in partnership (www.iktprinciples.com)
