Abstract

This talk will describe the pathophysiology of GI dysfunction following SCI and apply pathophysiological principles to different approaches used in managing neurogenic bowel dysfunction in SCI.

Biography

Dr. Risopatron is a physiatrist from Chile. She completed medical school in 2012 and finished her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in 2016, both in Chile. Her first position involved developing an inpatient rehabilitation program at a public acute care hospital, where she worked as part of a neurorehabilitation team. In 2020, she transitioned to Chile’s largest private health network, affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where she served as Chief of the Rehabilitation Department. In 2023, she joined the university’s academic faculty. She is currently undertaking a two-year clinical fellowship in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, which began in 2024.
