Abstract

Sleep apnea is very common after stroke and is known to be a risk factor for first stroke and for poor outcomes after stroke. This presentation will discuss the relationship between sleep apnea and stroke, including epidemiological findings and information about the possible reasons for the high prevalence. The rationale for performance of clinical trials for OSA among stroke patients will be reviewed as will the design of an ongoing, large, multicenter trial.
